Atley Chock
Atley Chock will be
coordinating the technical assistance program for the Community
Justice Network for Youth. He will be creating a database of
organizations in the network and in the process, will look for
opportunities for organizations to better support each other and
create a stronger, more united juvenile justice movement. He will
also be involved in coordinating the follow-up meetings to the
regional meetings. Before coming to CJNY, he worked as a youth
organizer with Californians for Justice, organizing low-income youth
of color around racial justice issues in education. After leaving
CFJ, he has worked with many community-based groups including the
API Coalition Against War, CJWP, Education Not Incarceration, and
initiated the newly formed Bay Area Network Against Police
Brutality. He graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio with a degree
in Biology. Though biology might not be a typical major for social
justice activists, it was through campus activism for Asian American
and Ethnic Studies where he gained his passion and motivation to
work for social justice and empower low-income communities of color.
