PITCH RAP:
Hello, are you on deadline?
[If yes, ask when would be a good time to call back]
[If no, jump in:]

I’m calling to remind you about a press conference and report release that’s happening today at 4:30 at the Oakland Federal Building. One year after the bombing of Iraq and two years after the Cambodian Repatriation Act, community members are asking: Are we really safer? And ho’s paid the price for the war on terror?

The report, called Justice Detained, dispels the myth that immigrants are a threat to our national security. Today Terry Nichols is being tried for the Oklahoma City bombing, meanwhile thousands of immigrants face separation from their families because a 1996 law passed after the bombing effectively blamed immigrants for that terrorist act.

The report will be released to Barbara Lee’s office today, and the rally will feature speakers affected by deportation, including Dale Cuevas. Will you be able to come?

[If yes or maybe:]
Great, please feel free to call if you have any questions

[If no:]
Is there anyone else at your outlet that covers immigrant issues?
Would you like any additional information for a future story?
