Youth Policy Forum

The Youth Policy Forum provides youth and young adults the ability to bring their unique perspective to policy issues impacting their lives. The CJNY gathers member programs and other experts to engage in a reflection and analysis of the current state of the juvenile justice system.

The first topic in 2004 that was identified is the reliance on the large institutional model and the lack of re-entry services for youth of color in trouble with the law. We examined the question of why this failed model continues to be used by governments and what scholars, model American jurisdictions and other countries are doing as viable alternatives.
